Why I Became a Coach
I have a special place in my heart for late bloomers, having begun my own journey of reinvention at age 35. Back then, I was full of shame because I didn’t know who I was or what made my heart and soul sing. I was a people-pleasing perfectionist trying to figure out who everyone else wanted me to be and acting as if I were that person. It was a painful time for me, so I committed to making my personal growth a priority. I had to find my purpose and a way to express that in the world.
Today, over 40 years later, I know that journey well, and my career as an educator and training and development professional has helped more than 1,000 people to live authentic, fulfilling lives. Over the years, I have also applied what I teach others to myself. I earned my doctorate at 56, was hired for my last corporate job at 64 and retired from corporate work at age 75 in order to focus on my coaching practice: It’s Never Too late to Bloom!
One day, when I was taking a walk, I noticed an acorn lying isolated and abandoned on the concrete road. I thought to myself, “Every acorn has the potential to become a mighty oak tree. That acorn will never reach its potential because it isn’t in a supportive environment in which to grow.” This can happen to people as well.”

- Would you like to
- make decisions with confidence instead of asking others what you should do?
- let go of the fear that you will make a mistake or fail if you move forward?
- trust yourself?
- let go of the fear of being abandoned and express your opinion when your thoughts and feelings differ from those of your friends and/or family?
- give yourself permission to do what feels right to you instead of seeking the approval of others?
- try new things without knowing how they’ll turn out and risk being judged?
- let go of the fear that people will laugh at you?
- take steps to live a healthier lifestyle?
Inside all of us lives a child, bursting with the desire to express, to create and share, to give and receive, to love and be loved. Yet many of us are held back from being all that we are meant to be.
In our coaching relationship, I listen, I ask thoughtful questions and help you discover your true self, the self you want to be. You will learn to empower yourself and make choices for your own good and the good of all.
You can wait or you can act. Remaining in a stagnant comfort zone means a future of more of the same. The only failure is the failure to act. The path you’re on is only one of many possible choices. With support, you can take one small step in a new direction, then another and you will find yourself. You don’t need a crisis to begin.
As a Certified Professional Coach, my passion is to partner with you on your journey as you manifest what matters most to you. If you desire to come home to yourself, if you are yearning for a greater sense of personal fulfillment and are telling yourself you want more out of your life, now is the time.
Let’s make it happen!
LIVE THE LIFE YOU WERE MEANT TO LIVE
